If this is your first pregnancy, you are probably wondering what you can expect to feel like when you are 32 weeks pregnant. The baby has been kicking quite a bit lately and your belly has become larger. If you were to see your baby on an ultrasound at this stage, you will see that it is able to suck its thumb. Your visits to the doctor office will change from this week onwards. Up until now, your doctor wished to see you once a month, but after this visit you will have a two-week schedule for your visits. If you have any questions, you should start writing them down and bring them with you when you do see the doctor so that you can get as much information as possible.

When you lie down, you will be able to see the imprint of a tiny foot moving across your belly and you will actually feel the baby turning over. This is an exciting time in your pregnancy because the baby starts to become a real person. When you are asleep, you may be awakened suddenly by a sharp kick or movements ?quite often just under your ribs. The baby will start to have hiccups in the 32nd week, which you will feel as short jerky movements inside you. You can alleviate the discomfort that this causes by moving around or drinking a glass of water.

The baby will start to turn in the uterus so that its head is down towards the birth canal. It won start moving downwards just yet, but it will start getting in the right position for delivery. Since the baby is starting to put on a lot of weight, you will notice weight gain as well ?often as much as a pound or two per week. Within the next two months, the baby will double its current weight.

In the 32nd week, the baby is able to blink its eyes, look around, pee and use its hands to making grabbing motions. There may or may not be hair. According to old wives?tales, if you have experienced a lot of heartburn during your pregnancy, the baby will have lots of hair when it is born. The baby usually weighs about four pounds by this week and measures about 17 or 18 inches in length.

As the baby grows, you will have increased aches and pains in your stomach and lower back. This is due to the pressure the baby places on your kidneys and your muscles. The ligaments in your stomach, hips and buttocks are still stretching, which accounts for the pulling and stretching pains you feel in these areas. You may also experience slight contractions as the baby starts to move downward, but they are mild and do not last very long.

This is the time when you should start finalizing your plans for the baby arrival ?completing the nursery and starting to stock up on diapers, blankets, undershirts and sleepers.

The condition of acid reflux is also commonly known as heartburn. This is a condition that is characterized by the inflammation of the esophagus, caused by the backing up of food from the stomach into the esophagus. This food is partially or mostly digested and usually has a high acidic content, which causes pain and/or discomfort in many people.

Several treatments have been used successfully in the fight against heartburn (acid reflux). Some of these forms of treatment include one or more of the following:

1. Baking Soda and Water: Usually a teaspoon of baking soda mixed in a glass of water will help most people, since it neutralizes excess acidity. This is one of the most natural ways to cure heartburn/acid reflux.

2. Alka-Seltzer: This is a tablet that dissolves in water that is taken orally as a liquid. This product has a similar effect as baking soda and water. It can be purchased at a pharmacy or grocery store without a prescription.

3. Pepto-Bismol: This is a liquid medication that is taken orally to help alleviate the effects of heartburn. This is available without a prescription.

4. Clear Soda (such as Sprite or 7-UP): The carbonation in clear sodas can help to relieve the acid buildup in a person’s stomach and can also help a person to release gas.

5. Tums: These are tablets that come in chewable form which contain calcium carbonate, an ingredient that helps relieve symptoms of upset stomach and heartburn. It is termed an antacid.

6. Prescription Medications: Those who need relief from chronic heartburn (acid reflux) can consult a doctor or other qualified health care professional. They may prescribe more potent or different medications than those sold over-the-counter in stores. They will also provide instructions on how to take these.

7. Exercise: Those who engage in regular exercise will also find relief from heartburn in many cases. Usually it is good to do a variety of aerobic and anaerobic movements. Examples of an aerobic exercise involve fast-paced step exercises and dance movements, as well as jogging, stair climbing, and bicycling. Types of anaerobic exercise include weight and resistance training and stretching exercises. More information can be found about specific exercise programs that can help people.

8. Diet Changes: If heartburn sufferers want relief, they may need to alter their diets.

9. Heat or Feet Pillows: Heartburn sufferers can also prevent or relieve acid reflux, particularly at night, if they raise their head or feet with pillows, or other object (such as a bed wedge). Propping up of the head usually works best since gravity can help keep food from creeping upward into the esophageal area.

10. Relaxation: If people take time to rest and relax, they are able better able to reduce the amount of stress that could lead to poor choices. For example, it could reduce a person’s desire to consume large amounts of alcohol which can certainly aggravate the pain and discomfort associated with heartburn.

There are also remedies for acid reflux other than the ones described above. There are many published guides on how to lessen or eliminate heartburn. Guides regarding diet and exercise can also be found quite easily. The fastest and easiest way to find these articles is to do a site search or to search in your favorite Web browser.

Heartburn or acid reflux is great discomfort to many individuals; however there are many remedies that can be found right from your kitchen. Many people experience heartburn for several reasons and oftentimes, they may not recognize the symptoms at first. The contributory factors of acid reflux often seem too harmless to recognize. For instance, drinking too many caffeinated and carbonated drinks will eventually cause heartburn. Your beloved chocolate, after satisfying your sweet cravings, will very likely cause too much acid build-up and cause the distress of heartburn. Moreover, eating a heavy meal right before bedtime will very likely engender indigestion and cause excess acid in the stomach to rise to the esophagus.

If you have already begun to experience the annoyance that is heartburn, fix yourself a nice cup of herbal tea. Fennel seeds are known for their effectiveness in treating acid reflux, and you can add a bit of mint to your tea to give it a more pleasant taste. Ginger tea also offers excellent relief, added with a bit of honey for flavor. Almonds are also known to relieve gastric acid, and chewing a few almonds may help in alleviating this condition. Moreover, you can also try a baking soda concoction by adding a teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water. Slowly drink the mixture until you feel that you’ve already had enough.

You can also try lying on your left side to expel the excess acid and the gas out. However, one of the simplest and cheapest ways to treat heartburn would be to eat an apple. Consuming an apple actually neutralizes the distressing acids in your stomach, thus relieving you of your heartburn problems. The natural antacids and fiber present in apples can deliver a most potent and immediate effect in curing your acid reflux condition. Eating a small apple after dinner or after each meal will help in preventing problems each time.

Other natural remedies you can try:

1. Drink a cup of whole milk to treat the burning sensation.

2. Eat 1 slice of bread with no spread and drink 1 cup of cold water.

3. When you suffer from heartburn, eat almonds.

4. Pickles or pickle juice are very good when suffering from heartburn.

5. Eat bananas.

6. Chew peppermint gum for a few minutes.

7. Drink ginger tea with small sips.

8. When having bad heartburn eat plain yogurt.

9. Eat dry plain crackers and drink 1 cup of water.

10. Drink plain soda whenever you get heartburn.

Finally, there are over the counter medications for acid reflux that you can stock your medicine cabinet with so you won’t have to head for the doctor every time you feel excess acid discomfort. Antacids normally come in pill and liquid form, and these provide almost immediate relief from heartburn. Depending on what works best for you, you can purchase the pill or liquid antacids from any drugstore. Heartburn is not meant to be a serious condition, and by keeping a few quick relief medications and natural remedies, you will certainly be feeling better for a long time.

supplements for anxiety

Anxiety is very wide spread today because of our busy lifestyles and poor eating habits. I myself have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks for about 14 years. I have tried lots of different ways to cope or possibly cure my anxiety and thought I should share a few things that have worked for me.

One thing I learned is that the adrenal glands are very important in understanding anxiety. They are responsible for dealing with stress to the body in whatever form it takes. That means both mental and physical stress. In order to help your anxiety, you need to improve your adrenal health. Anxiety is almost always a sign of adrenal fatigue or overload.

The first thing you need to do is support your adrenal glands with the supplements below:

Vitamin C (2,000-4,000 mg/day)

Vitamin E w/mixed tocopherols (800 IU/day)

Vitamin B100 complex

Pantothenic acid (1200-1500 mg/day)

Magnesium citrate (800-1200 mg)

Liquid trace minerals

Adrenal Glandular

Two excellent herbs that will support your adrenal glands and give you immediate relief are ashwagandha and Siberian ginseng. Ashwagandha has been shown to have a sedating effect on the body and helps to rebuild the digestive and nervous system. I especially like using it to help me fall asleep when I’m feeling restless at bedtime. Siberian ginseng has been used traditionally to stimulate and nourish the adrenal glands and increase mental alertness. I like taking this in the morning.

I have also benefited from adding salt to my diet. First thing in the morning and before that time of day when you’re the most tired, put 1/8 to 1/2 teaspoonful of sea salt or Celtic salt into an 8 oz. glass of water and drink. I know you’ve been told salt isn’t good for you but if your adrenal glands are not functioning up to par you most likely have a sodium deficiency. Sea salt or Celtic salt are so much better for you than table salt and also supply up to 80 other minerals.

Adrenal fatigue can also cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia, so eliminating all sugars from your diet will help tremendously. Instead of three meals a day eat five to six smaller meals or snacks throughout the day to keep your blood sugar balanced and you will feel better. Make sure these snacks are healthy foods with an equal ratio of fats, proteins and complex carbs.

You will do much better on a high protein diet along with healthy sources of saturated fats such as butter, coconut oil, and olive oil. Eliminate or reduce the amount of coffee you drink as it stimulates the adrenals and can cause further stress. For the same reason also avoid chocolate.

If you find yourself in the middle of a panic attack, here are some tips to help you get through it.

First thing you need to do, believe it or not, is relax. Sit down or lay down immediately. Begin to breath in very slowly and then exhale very slowly. Tell yourself that everything is alright. I thought this sounded so simplistic the first time I heard it, but it works. If you respond to the panic attack you begin to fuel the attack and make it worse.

As most panic attacks are caused by a dive in blood sugar you should then drink a glass or two of diluted fruit juice (all fruit no sugar). This will quickly bring your blood sugar back up to normal and you’ll feel a lot better. Eat something after the juice that has a combination of protein, fat and complex carbs. This will make sure that your blood sugar will not drop again right away.

I have found that supporting my adrenal glands with the above supplements, herbs and diet has stopped my panic attacks completely and has improved my anxiety greatly. I’m enjoying how calm I feel and I’m loving it.
