This is the time of year when many of us pledge to make the next 365 days different. Whether we’re full of actual resolutions written on paper or mental promises to ourselves, it’s very common to look at the new year as a new opportunity.

And it is, especially with your health. It’s never too late to abandon bad habits – even slowly – and adopt better ones. Any improvements you make to add up to positive results in the long run.

Watching what you drink is a great place to start. Water makes up over 95% of your body; when was the last time you had 8 full glasses in a day? It’s likely been a great while, if ever. Many times, we think we’re hungry when our body is actually in need of water. So you eat something to satisfy that feeling (and perhaps over-eat, or eat the wrong types of food) when your body needed something else entirely. It’s important to drink plenty of water each day to stay hydrated, soothe your biorhythms, and aid your metabolism.

Focus on what you eat next. Does what you eat offer complete multivitamins? I’ll bet you’re heavy on the meat and carbohydrates and possibly the dairy group. But you’re probably very light on the fruits and vegetables. These final groups provide a huge amount of vitamins and minerals necessary to process and absorb the nutrients in other foods and yet you’re starving your body of them.

Nothing is a substitute for taking the kind of care you need. One way to take a step closer to the health you deserve is a complete multivitamin. These beauties can boost your intake and help support your efforts as you get started down a better regimen.

Look for a complete multivitamin, consider adding omega 3 and 6 (fish oil) as well.

This article is going to focus on diet to help people with psoriasis.

There are several drug free ways you can help or eliminate your psoriasis. Diet is certainly key in the reduction in the acceleration of psoriasis. Instead of using scientific names I am going to list a good and a bad paragraph of foods that effect people with psoriasis. Good foods include fish, especially trout, mackerel, sardines, salmom as they are high in fatty acids. Stewed apples, plums, quinces, peaches, oranges and apples are also very effective, the rule of thumb is that if the fruit has a seed, it’s a great diet for the person with psoriasis.

Spinach, collard greens, romaine lettuce, kale, bokChoy, broccoli and much more. The rule of thumb for your veggies is that if its green and leafy it’s great for the psoriasis patient. Vegetables give us proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins, simple sugars and minerals.

It is important that you are aware what kind of oil that you cook with. Good oil’s are olive oil, sunflower oil, corn oil and soy oil are all good. My favorite is olive oil I use it for everything.

As well there are several seeds that have a positive effect for people with psoriasis. Good seeds are flax seeds, celery seeds, pumpkin seeds, linseeds and sunflower seeds. These seeds contain essential fatty acids.

Good dairy products to use should be rice or soy based.

It is obvious that essential good fatty foods that are rich in (Omega-3) are good. The person with psoriasis may be suffering from acid deficiencies. Bad foods include foods that are high in acids like vinegar, citrus fruits, tomatoes, pickles, dairy products that are not rice or soy based,(animal fats),salt, wheat (gluten free), red meat, pork, white sugar flour or rice, fried foods, chocolate, caffeine, and alcohol.

Other natural ways to assist the person with psoriasis are natural elements like the sun.

The UV light in the sun is capable of suppressing the activity of the T cells in people with psoriasis. Sun in moderation is shown to reduce the level of inflammation. (Note to much exposure to the sun can cause different problems.

The ocean is another fine element that can help the psoriasis patient. The cells of marine algae concentrate the minerals found in ocean water. A swim in the ocean can clean your pores and to detoxify the body.

The last element is the air. If you are fortunate to live in an area with plenty of moisture you are good. For those of you that are not as fortunate I suggest purchasing a humidifier to add some moisture to your home.

One of the natural elements I use for my scalp psoriasis is 99.999% water and 10 ppm of silver (kills bacteria).

Diet and environment play a vital role for the person with psoriasis.

Your health is your wealth get well and feels well :)

allergies or cold

As fall kicks off, the statistics for allergic reactions go sky high. About 50 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergy caused by ragweed, mold, pollen, and other substances. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology plots 20% of the U.S. population need to combat allergies symptoms on a regular occurrence while another 20% deal with hypersensitivity to food, stimuli, or environmental stuffs.

Ragweed allergy may look so simple but a lot of people cannot sleep, work, and do their daily routines because of coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

Here are some tips which can help you breathe more comfortably during the allergy season:

1. Eat healthy. Make sure that your diet will be rich in Vitamin C which can boost your immune system and acts as a naturally antihistamine. You can also take about 1000 mg of Vitamin C on a daily basis to shield yourself from ragweed allergy and other seasonal allergies. Omega-3 rich food like flaxseed, salmon, and walnuts will also help.

2. Magnesium can also help to ease your breathing. About 400 mg is ideal according to immunologists. You can also try to irrigate your nostrils with a squirt or two of salt water to help remove trapped allergens and excess mucus. Horseradish, hot mustard, and chili pepper on your favorite dish can also serve as temporary decongestants.

3. Wear sunglasses when you go out. Hay fever or allergic rhinitis brings with it some photosensitivity. The sunglasses can help protect your eyes from the sun and prevent excessive watering and itchiness.

4. Cold packs will be useful when engage in sports or other outdoor activities. Apply the cold pack to your eyes and your face and it can help a lot in reducing the inflammation.

5. Drink a lot of water. Re-hydrating your body throughout the day will help you cool down and relieve you of the allergic symptoms.

6. Stay away from dairy products. As much as they are really enjoyable, dairy products will trigger your body to produce more phlegm and just worsen your symptoms.

7. When taking a shower, use the bathroom exhaust fan to prevent the growth of molds. It is also advisable to replace your shower liner every month especially when you have mold allergies or if you have asthma.

8. Make sure to regularly clean the dryer vents which often accumulate dust. Regular cleaning of surfaces in your house will help decrease allergic reactions. Getting rid of clutter is also another key to prevent seasonal allergy.

9. Consult your doctor so you can be tested for any food allergies. Most often than not, people who have allergies are also sensitive to some foods that they usually take. Some people who are allergic to birch pollen, for example, also react to potatoes, carrots, and apples. Ragweed allergy is also aggravated if you do not react well to a glass of milk.

10. Get an air purifier good enough to filter particles which are about 20 microns or smaller. Pollens and allergens are about that big so making sure that you have clean air passing through your system will be a big help. Running the air conditioner just to decrease humidity may also reduce allergy symptoms.

Every allergic reaction stresses our immune system. Find out what allergens cause you trouble so you can avoid them, modify your lifestyle, and protect yourself from these seasonal allergies.
