Our nation is fat, on average the obesity levels of people in America is climbing each year but there could be come new diet pills on the way in 2010, 2011 or 2012. Some studies say that 2/3 of Americans are overweight, other say about half but what most can agree on is that our nation is out of control and at near “break scale” levels. People have always known about ways to reduce their weight with the basics like good diet and exercise but for most it is just not happening. The sedentary lifestyle combined with overeating is making our nation obese. But what doctors have argued about over recent years is if obesity is something to be classified as a disease. While some people could lose weight, there are also those that it just seems to be either far too difficult or near impossible. Yet the health of those who are not losing the weight is getting progressively worse.
Well there could be some new players in the never ending search for the ultimate diet pill. Contrave could be available in 2010 or early 2011. Empatic could be available in 2011 or sometime in 2012. These are specifically prescription diet pills that have been scientifically proven to help the obese. Two of such new drugs with the possibility of helping people lose weight are Empatic and Contrave. Each is being developed by Orexigen Therapeutics. Interestingly enough, each medication is actually a combination of other existing medications used for ailments other than weight loss. For Empatic the combinations are zonisamide and bupropion. Contrave is a combination of naltrexone and bupropion. Tests are showing remarkable weight loss and the benefit to risk ratio is looking rather favorable for each. In fact Contrave is expected to be submitted to the FDA as a drug to fight obesity in early 2010. If submitted, the FDA still needs to approve it but, so far things are falling into place for Contrave.
Empatic on the other hand it a little further behind in its research and development but the test results so far look promising. Some of the issues that could make the FDA reject them if submitted would be their side effects. All drugs have side effects on some level. If they are deemed to be too destructive then they will be discarded. Other issues would be if the FDA deemed them to be too ineffective, if they barely get the job done than there is not much of a reason that they would be passed. Without getting too technical, it is most likely that the passing or failing would fall on these two issues or a combination both.

If you need help for anxiety, then you might feel like you are at the end of your rope. You are tired of negative thoughts and fears controlling your life, but don’t know how to stop this vicious cycle. In this article, you’ll learn some important strategies that will help. Although no one lives a life that is completely free of fear and worry, there are steps that you can take to release their hold on you, so you can lead a happier and more peaceful life.
People who need help for anxiety and go to see a doctor are often given prescription medications. Although these drugs can help, they do not heal the cause of anxiety, so you will have to keep taking them. Additionally, these drugs can have side effects that can worsen your suffering and cause you to seem emotionless and flat. Of course, the big problem with drugs is that all they do is mask the symptoms instead of addressing the problem head on.
There is a movement in this country to take a skills-not-prescription-pills approach that teaches people strategies for overcoming depression and and anxiousness. Thoughts give rise to feelings and although you cannot stop the stream of thoughts, you can become aware of them, so they will not direct your life. A good behavioral therapist can teach you this skill. Of course, this is a skill that is learned progressively over time and it’s something that you must develop the discipline to apply constantly in your life because even people who do not have a disorder may suffer from occasional bouts of anxiousness or feelings of mild depression. The key here is to learn how to control your mind, rather than allowing it to control you.
Still, there’s a catch 22 here because if you’re anxious all the time, if you’re always waiting for the other foot to drop so to speak, then it is difficult to learn new skills. People learn best when they are relaxed and calm and focused in the present moment. This is why it’s a good idea to take a natural remedy that will create a sense of relaxed awareness and relieve you of anxious thoughts. Used in conjunction with behavioral therapy or some kind of awareness training, this can help you get your life back on track.
Look for a natural remedy that has ingredients that work like Passion Flower and St. John’s Wort. These ingredients have been used for centuries to soothe anxious feelings and relieve the blues. When taken with a proper diet of lean protein, healthy greens, fresh fruit, whole grains and lots of clean, refreshing water, your brain will begin to heal the damage caused by years or even decades of living in constant fear. If you need help for anxiety, natural remedies are one of the safest and most effective methods used today. In fact in progressive countries like Germany, natural remedies are used more often than prescription drugs.
So here’s the solution: take a look at your diet and make sure you’re eating healthy food, start taking a natural supplement for anxiety and give it a couple of weeks. Once you start feeling more peaceful, find a therapist or take some sort of awareness program that will teach you how to let go of thoughts and feelings that rob you of the joy and serenity that you deserve.
You only get one life. Take action now.
The percentage of obese men and women in the UK is increasing. Currently there are 17% men and 21% women who have BMI of 30 or more. Most overweight or obese people resort to weight loss pills to lose weight quickly. While prescription pills are by far the most popular and trusted, OTC drugs too have managed to carve a niche among dieters. alli is the first diet pill of its kind – a medicine approved by the FDA to be sold over the counter.
What is alli?
alli is the non-prescription version of the more popular Xenical orlistat. It contains a reduced amount of orlistat as its active ingredient. Like Xenical, alli too works best if taken as a weight loss supplement. It means that you should not depend on the medicine to work wonders for you. Regular exercise and nutritious diet still holds the secret to achieve a healthy and long-term weight loss goal. But the benefit of using a weight loss pills is that you can do with only light exercise, as compared to heavy workouts everyday without medication.
Manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, the alli slimming pills has already had its share of criticisms and negative feedback from customers. Some have complained about its limited ability in dealing with food that contains a high amount of fat. But then again, you cannot expect positive results when you are not willing to play your part in the weight loss program.
How does alli work?
alli works by preventing a part of the dietary fat from being digested by the system. When you take a fatty meal, some enzymes target the fat and breaks it down for absorption. Orlistat works on those enzymes and prevent them from breaking down fat. The unabsorbed fat gets expelled from the body, helping you to not put on weight.
Does alli deprive me of other essential nutrients?
No, orlistat targets only the enzymes that help in fat digestion. It does not interfere with enzymes that work on proteins or carbohydrates. So if you eat a meal that contains all 3 essential nutrients, alli will not affect the absorption of proteins and carbohydrates. But healthy eating and regular physical activities should be on top of your list of priorities if you are sincere about your weight loss goals.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects include flatulence, bowel movements, and oily or fatty stools. The drug is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. If you have any existing health problem, talk to your doctor before using it.
Can I take alli?
It is still early days but alli has the potential to be the right, long-term solution to obese people who are at increased risk of developing other weight-related health and psychological problems. Here you have a choice to take your time and treat your problem away from your snoopy neighbours. With a little bit of support from the people who matter to you, you can fight obesity, get the confidence back and come back to a normal life.
