P90X, can it help you?
What is P90X? P90X is an intense workout program consisting of a series of workouts to fully engage your body. The system was created by Tony Horton, a professional trainer. P90X has grown in popularity and is now being used by thousands of people around the world.
How does it work? Tony created P90X to help the average joe become a fit and muscular. His techniques and workouts are laid out in 12 workout videos. The basis behind P90X is muscle confusion.
Muscle Confusion: A technique to counteract the cessation of growth that occurs when muscles adapt to the training demands placed upon them. Your muscles adapt to stress, and ultimately you can reach a plateau. By constantly varying the exercises, weights, sets and reps you can ensure continued adaption.
With P90X your body does not have time to adjust to the constant changes, therefore RESULTS!!! I am on week 2 of the 90 day plan. I have had many workouts in the past: heavy weights, resistance training, etc. None of those workouts even compare to P90X’s intense workout. I am looking forward to the results in the future from this program. In the mean time, I follow a strict workout plan and though I am not following the nutrition guide exactly, I am eating healthier and drinking protein shakes and recovery drinks as needed.

Does the P90X really work?
I can now self-confidently say that P90x is a great workout program and it truly works. I have believed all the hype and followed a lot of home workouts in the past, and although they worked for a while, never seemed to work out in the end. The problem was my body was quickly adapting to the exercise programs I was following. The P90x is different from any other home workout that I have done because it does not let your body adapt to a “normal routine” exercise which allows you to see results easily. The P90x DVDs also target specific parts of my body and allowed me to work on the ones that I really wanted to improve. This program is extremely inexpensive and I recommend it to anyone that is serious about changing their lives for the better. Once you get started using the P90x system you will never want to quit because you will start seeing results within a week to motivate you to keep going! Once you see these results you are never going to want to stop. The exercises are also so simple to follow that you will pick up on it right away! If you are not a fan of resistance bands, you can get away with a quality set of dumbbells. However, expect to pay far more for dumbbells as you will have to buy multiple sets to adjust as you increase your strength.
If you do not want to purchase several different weights of dumbbells, you can purchase the Bowflex SelectTech 552 dumbbells. These dumbbells are adjustable from five pounds all the way up to 52.5 pounds. The downside is that they will run you as much as $399.
There are a number of benefits to going with resistance bands instead of dumbbells. First and foremost, you can save hundreds of dollars as a quality set of bands will be no more than $40 or $50. In addition, they are portable and much more versatile than a set of dumbbells.
